Build Brighton is a communal workshop and collective of over 70 makers, designers, tinkerers, hobbyists, engineers, artists and hackers who love to build stuff.
We’re part of a global network of hackspaces – places where like-minded people can geek out about electronics, technology, crafts, engineering… even food hacking! Our main purpose is to provide tools and a space in which our members can gather, collaborate and learn from each other. People can beaver away on their own projects, or take part in exciting group projects in a playful and friendly environment.
This video will tell you a little bit more about who we are and what we do:
Hackspaces – also known as hackerspaces or makerspaces – are community-operated places where like-minded people can meet up, collaborate and work on projects.
Despite the name, hackspaces have nothing to do with cyber-crime or malicious computer hacking. Rather, hackspace members are the type of people who love taking things apart to find out how they work… and putting them back together with a few improvements!
Build Brighton is part of a network of over 1,000 independently-run hackspaces all over the world – there are over 30 in the UK alone.

We are a not-for-profit community run entirely by volunteers. Our members pay a monthly subscription that goes towards paying for the workshop space and providing equipment, amenities and assets for the group.
